Ortho Mosquito B Gon Max Flying Insect Killer Area Spray Aerosol 350 g
Flying insect area spray, 350 g — treats an outdoor space or an enclosed area for mosquitoes and other flying pests.
Details
An area spray is not the same as a spray you point at a bug. It is meant to be released into a space to knock down the flying insects in it — mosquitoes, flies, gnats and midges — which makes it useful before an evening outside on a deck, in a screened porch or gazebo, or in an outbuilding you are about to work in. It works quickly and it does not last long, which is the honest description of what an area treatment does. That short residual is the key thing to understand. You are clearing the insects that are in the space now, not protecting the space for the weekend. Treat shortly before you want to use the area, close it up or let it settle for the period the label specifies, and expect mosquitoes to drift back in from the yard afterward. Around a house, treating the shaded resting spots where mosquitoes wait out the day — under decks, dense shrubs, the north side of a shed — often does more than treating the open area. The lasting fix is standing water. Mosquitoes breed in anything that holds water for a week: eavestroughs, tarps, wheelbarrows, old tires, tree holes, stock tanks, plugged culverts. Walking your yard and tipping things over reduces numbers far more than spraying does. Follow the label for approved sites, whether it may be used indoors, ventilation and re-entry. Keep it off food, out of fish ponds and away from beehives, and do not spray flowering plants where bees are working. Aerosols are flammable — no flame, no pilot lights, no hot surfaces. Store upright, out of sun, out of reach of children.
