Details
Ortho Bug B Gon ECO Insecticide Concentrate is a DOMESTIC-class insecticide registered by Health Canada under PCP Reg. No. 28404 to Scotts Canada Ltd. Its active ingredient is pyrethrins at 0.5%, formulated as an emulsifiable concentrate that is mixed with water before use. The label covers containers from 100 mL to 1 L; this listing is the 500 mL bottle. It is the concentrate counterpart of the Bug B Gon ECO Insecticide Ready-To-Use 1 L (PCP 28379, pyrethrins 0.01%). What the label covers: "For use on indoor and greenhouse ornamental plants." and "DO NOT use in commercial greenhouses." The label lists aphids, spider mites and whitefly (all stages) and thrips, mealybugs and scale insects (adult and nymph stages) on "indoor ornamental houseplants, and greenhouse ornamental plants such as fuchsia and roses". It is not a lawn, garden-bed or vegetable spray: "DO NOT apply to houseplants grown for food or feed (e.g., herbs)." How to mix and apply, from the label: "Shake well before each use and stir or shake diluted spray frequently during use." "Hand-held or backpack sprayers: Mix 20 mL (4 teaspoons) of concentrate with 1 litre of water." With the Scotts Dial 'N Spray hose-end sprayer: "Set the dial on the Dial ‘N Spray® applicator to 20 and follow label directions." At 20 mL per litre, the 500 mL bottle makes about 25 litres of spray (arithmetic, not a label statement). "A fine mist is recommended to provide thorough coverage for upper and lower leaf surfaces, as well as stems where needed. DO NOT wet plants to the point of runoff or drip." "Insects must be contacted by spray to be killed." "Treatment must only be repeated after 10 days if pest problem persists or reoccurs." The label also sets a maximum amount of diluted spray per square metre; read it on the bottle. "DO NOT apply using stationary or handheld fogging or misting equipment. DO NOT apply as a space spray." Precautions, as printed: "CAUTION: SKIN IRRITANT POTENTIAL SKIN SENSITIZER". "May irritate skin and cause skin sensitization responses." "Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Use only in well ventilated areas. Wear gloves when handling this product." "Contains petroleum distillates." Keep it out of reach of children. First aid for swallowing, inhalation, eyes and skin is printed on the label; take the container with you when seeking medical attention. Storage: "Store this product away from food or feed." Disposal: the label says not to reuse the empty container and to dispose of it in household garbage. Where to buy: Pipestone Farm Supply lists Ortho Bug B Gon ECO Insecticide Concentrate 500 mL in store in Millet, Alberta (between Leduc and Wetaskiwin, south of Edmonton) and online. For vegetables, fruit trees and outdoor plants, the Bug B Gon ECO insecticidal soap products (PCP 28376, 28377 and 29272) carry the wider use list. Pesticides are regulated by Health Canada; read and follow the label before every use. Source: Health Canada Pesticide Label Search, label for ORTHO BUG B GON ECO INSECTICIDE CONCENTRATE (PCP Reg.
