Ortho Bed Bug B Gon Diatom Diatomaceous Earth Bed Bug Killer is an insecticide pressurized spray registered with Health Canada as ORTHO® BED BUG B GON™ DIATOM DIATOMACEOUS EARTH BED BUG KILLER (PCP Reg. No. 32674, Domestic class), registrant Scotts Canada Ltd. The guarantee is silicon dioxide (present as diatomaceous earth) 6.56%. The label covers containers of 50 g - 700 g; this listing is the 340 g aerosol. The front panel reads "For Use in Homes" and "CAUTION DANGER EXPLOSIVE EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE". What the label covers and how to apply it: "Bed Bugs: Before application, shake container for a few seconds, then spray an even layer onto surface to be treated. Apply as a crack and crevice, spot or void treatment." "Take beds apart, spray all frames and joints. Spray mattress, particularly around seams tufts, folds and edges. Treat box springs, bed frame and other furniture where these insects may be found. Cover with clean bedding before using." The label continues: "Bed bugs may also be found in areas of the room away from the bed or furniture. Spray directly into cracks and crevices where these pests are found or may hide along and behind baseboards, moldings and floors underneath objects (e.g. floors underneath bed and nightstand). Apply to wall voids, behind wall hangings, floor molding, window casings, carpet edge, and other cracks and crevices or voids. Apply directly to the bed bug if possible. Repeat as required." For crack and crevice use: "remove protective cap and insert the extension tube into the spray nozzle." It also says: "Do not use as a general space spray." Precautions, as printed: "KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Do not use in presence of open flame or spark or while smoking. CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE. Container may explode if heated. Do not expose to temperature above 50°C/122°F. Avoid breathing dust and vapours. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Use adequate ventilation when handling, during application, and clean-up activities. When used indoors in residential settings, do not apply in the immediate vicinity of people or pets. Wash hands after use." The label's toxicological note: "Contains petroleum distillate - vomiting may cause aspiration pneumonia." First-aid directions are on the label: "Take the container, label or product name and Pest Control Product Registration Number with you when seeking medical attention." Disposal: "When container is empty, press the valve to release all remaining pressure, then dispose of the empty container in accordance with provincial requirements. Do not puncture or incinerate."
