Medi-Dart syringe-no tail section (MDPSAC)
Medi-Dart projectile syringe supplied assembled but without a tail section, for rebuilding a dart around a tail you already own.
Details
Damage to a dart is usually local. The front end takes a bad landing, or the barrel goes, while the tail section is untouched and still holding pressure perfectly well. Buying a complete dart in that situation means paying again for the one part that was never the problem. This is the projectile syringe supplied assembled but without its tail section, so it mates to the tail you already have. Fitment is the thing to be careful about here, because Medi-Dart sells the same idea for the pole-mounted system as a separate item, listed as the extension syringe without tail section. Check the description against your own outfit, and against the diagram in your manual, before ordering. If the reason your dart stopped working is that it will not hold air, think twice before buying this. A dart that bleeds down is most often a worn o-ring, and after that the valve group. Change the cheap parts first, oil everything with castor oil and test it on the bench overnight. Only when you are satisfied the tail itself is sound does buying a syringe without one make sense. Made up with a tail section, the dart holds up to 30 cc and will not deliver a charge under 10 cc, which is a hardware limit rather than a recommendation. It takes the standard needle range, #2 through #6 in intramuscular or subcutaneous pattern. Follow the label on whatever you are administering and take the treatment decision with your veterinarian.
