Medi-Dart protective end cap (MDPEC)
Protective end cap for the Medi-Dart extension pole syringe, fitted to guard the end of the assembly between jobs.
Details
Equipment that lives in a truck box gets treated like the rest of the contents of a truck box. The protective end cap is a small acknowledgement of that: it goes on the end of the extension pole syringe so the assembly is not taking knocks from fencing pliers and mineral pails between jobs. It belongs to the extension system, the version with the roughly 1.5 m (5 ft) handle and the telescoping pole that reaches out to around 2.4 m (8 ft), rather than to the crossbow dart. If you are shopping for crossbow parts, this is not the item you want. Caps get lost. They are the sort of part that comes off in the grass while you are loading a syringe and is never seen again, which is a poor reason to have a damaged assembly, so having a spare in the case is reasonable. It is reusable hardware and it needs nothing done to it beyond being put back on. None of this changes the routine that matters more: strip the syringe down and clean it after use, keep the o-ring and barrel lightly oiled, and confirm the syringe holds pressure before you head out. What you are administering, and whether the system is the right way to administer it, is a question for your veterinarian and the product label.
