Medi-Dart plunger cap all (MDPC)
Replacement Medi-Dart plunger cap, the cap fitted to the plunger and common across the Medi-Dart syringes.
Details
The plunger is what actually pushes the contents of the barrel out through the needle when the trapped air behind it is released, and the cap on the end of it is the part that meets the barrel wall. It is a small piece of hardware that carries the whole shot. Wear here shows up as a shot that does not fully empty. If a barrel is coming back with more left in it than it should, and you have already checked the o-ring and the valve group, the plunger cap is the next thing to look at. Anything that has scored, hardened or gone out of shape will let pressure past instead of pushing ahead of it. Medi-Dart lists this cap as fitting across its syringes rather than being tied to one system, which makes it a useful spare to have in the case whether you are running the crossbow dart or the extension pole. That said, if you are ordering several parts at once it is still worth confirming your syringe type against the manual so the rest of the order matches. Keep the plunger and barrel lightly lubricated with castor oil, which is what Medi-Dart supplies with its kits, and the cap will last a good deal longer. It is a reusable part with a service life rather than a per-shot consumable. As always, whatever you are administering, follow the label and take the treatment decision with your veterinarian.
