Medi-Dart extension syringe - no tail section (MDSAC)
Medi-Dart extension syringe supplied assembled but without the tail section, for rebuilding a pole syringe around a tail you already have.
Details
Damage to one of these syringes is rarely spread evenly. An animal puts a foot through the barrel end, or the front assembly is past saving, while the tail section is untouched. Buying a whole new dart in that situation means paying twice for a part that is sitting in good order on the bench. This is the extension syringe supplied assembled but without the tail section, so it mates to the tail you already own. It is the pole-type syringe rather than the crossbow dart. Check the name on the packaging carefully, because Medi-Dart sells the same idea for both systems and the two are not interchangeable. The tail section is the part that takes the air charge from the pump, so if yours is the reason the syringe stopped holding pressure, this is not the right purchase. Work out which end of the syringe is at fault before ordering. A syringe that bleeds down overnight is far more often a tired o-ring than a failed tail, and o-rings cost almost nothing. Made up with a tail section, the extension syringe holds up to 35 cc and will not deliver a charge under 10 cc, which is a limit of the valve rather than a recommendation. It takes the standard Medi-Dart needle range, #2 through #6 in intramuscular or subcutaneous pattern. Whatever you are administering, follow the label and speak to your veterinarian.
