Details
Anyone who has run this system for a season knows the argument for a second dart. Loading one while an animal stands quiet is not the moment to be draining, rinsing and recharging the only syringe you own. Having a spare made up is the difference between treating two animals in one walk and making two trips. This is the extension dart complete, the pole-type syringe assembled and ready to fit to a Medi-Dart extension pole. It holds up to 35 cc, which is the larger of the two barrel sizes Medi-Dart makes, and the valve arrangement means it will not deliver a charge below 10 cc. Air pumped into the tail section is what drives the plunger once the needle is in the animal. It does not include a pole or an air pump. If you do not already have those, the complete pole extension kit is the item to look at instead. If you do, this drops straight onto the pole you are running and takes the same needles: #2 through #6 in either the intramuscular or the subcutaneous pattern, with the #6 requiring the half-moon push rod and a wingnut. The dart is entirely reusable and there is no cost per shot. Strip it down and wash it after use, keep the barrel and o-ring lightly oiled with castor oil, and test that it holds pressure before it goes back in the case. Treatment decisions and dosing stay with your veterinarian and the product label.
