Medi-Dart crossbow tail section (MDCBTS)

The tail section is where the shot is stored. Air goes in from the pump beforehand and stays there until the needle enters the animal, at which point it pushes the plunger down the barrel. If the tail will not hold, no amount of pumping will make the dart work, and on a crossbow dart it is also the end most exposed on landing. This is the crossbow version. Medi-Dart makes separate tail sections for the extension pole syringe and the projectile dart, and they are not interchangeable, so read the name against the system you are running rather than going by appearance. Before writing off a tail section, change the o-ring. A dart that bleeds down between the shop and the pasture is far more often a flat, nicked or dried-out seal than a failed tail, and the o-ring is a fraction of the cost and a two-minute job. Oil the parts with castor oil on reassembly and see whether the dart holds pressure overnight on the bench. If it really is the tail, this replaces it without buying a whole new dart, which is the whole logic of Medi-Dart selling parts individually. It is reusable equipment rather than a consumable.
