Medi-Dart crossbow syringe barrel (MDPB)

Being able to see the contents of a dart is not a luxury when the thing is going to be launched across a pasture. The barrel on a Medi-Dart is transparent so you can check the fill before you shoot and read the plunger position afterwards, which is how you know whether the animal took a full charge or whether the dart came away early. This is the barrel for the crossbow dart, holding up to 30 cc. The extension pole syringe uses a larger barrel and is a separate part, so match your order to the system. The valve on either syringe will not deliver a charge under 10 cc, which is a limit built into the hardware rather than a suggestion about what to give. Crossbow barrels take impact damage that pole syringes never see, and they land on frozen ground, gravel and rocks. Look for cracks around the ends and scoring on the inside wall. Scoring is the one that catches people out, because the plunger cap has to seal against that surface and a scored bore lets pressure past instead of pushing ahead of it. Wash it out after use, keep it lightly oiled with castor oil as Medi-Dart recommends, and store the dart assembled rather than rattling loose in a case. It is a reusable part with a service life rather than a consumable. What goes into it, and whether it should, is a matter for your veterinarian and the product label.
