Medi-Dart crossbow string (MDCBS)
Replacement string for the Medi-Dart crossbow, the wearing part that should be changed before it fails.
Details
Strings are the one part of a crossbow that everybody knows will wear out and almost nobody changes on time. They fray where they run over the rest, they stretch, and the shot moves gradually enough that you blame yourself for the miss rather than the equipment. Then one day the string lets go, usually with an animal standing in front of you. This is the replacement string for the Medi-Dart crossbow. Change it on condition rather than on a schedule, and inspect it every time you get the bow out: look at the serving where it contacts the rest and the loops at each end, and replace it if it is fuzzed, flattened or visibly thinner in one spot. It fits the crossbow launcher only. The projectile bow-and-arrow system is a separate outfit with its own bow, and nothing about the string applies to the extension pole syringe, which uses no stored energy at all. Expect a new string to settle in slightly over the first several shots, so shoot at a target and confirm your point of impact before treating an animal, particularly if you are running a sight. This is a genuine wearing part and a sensible spare to carry. What you put in the dart is a matter for your veterinarian and the label of the product being administered.
