Placement matters more with this system than raw distance does. Medi-Dart rates the crossbow as accurate at about 9 m (30 ft), and at that range a sight is what turns a rough aim into a repeatable one. Without it you are guessing, and a guessed shot on a standing animal is not a shot worth taking. This is a replacement sight for the Medi-Dart crossbow. Sights get knocked out of position long before they wear out, so if your darts have started landing consistently off to one side, check the sight and its mounting before assuming the bow or string is at fault. A sight that moves under hand pressure has already told you the answer. It fits the crossbow launcher only. Neither the projectile bow-and-arrow system nor the extension pole syringe uses one. Use the parts diagram in the Medi-Dart manual to confirm you are ordering the right item for your launcher. A new sight has to be set up before it is any use. Shoot at a target from the distance you actually work at, with the same dart and the same charge you will use on cattle, and adjust until the point of impact is where you want it. Only then take it to the pasture. Whatever you are administering, follow the label and take the treatment decision with your veterinarian.
