Medi-Dart crossbow plunger complete (MDPPL)
Complete replacement plunger for the Medi-Dart crossbow dart, supplied assembled with its cap.
Details
A crossbow dart takes a harder life than a pole syringe. It is launched, it hits an animal, it ejects and it lands on whatever is under her, and everything inside it has to survive that repeatedly. The plunger is at the centre of it, with air pressure on one side and the contents of the barrel on the other, and its travel is what empties the dart. This is the crossbow plunger complete, assembled with its cap. The extension pole syringe uses its own plunger, so check the system before ordering. Buying it made up rather than as loose parts saves working out the order on a bench, which is worth something when you are trying to get back out before the light goes. A dart that comes back with more in the barrel than it should is telling you something in the pressure path has failed. Work through it in order of cost: the o-ring first, then the valve group, then the plunger. A plunger cap that has hardened, scored or lost its shape is easy enough to spot with the dart apart. Keep the plunger and the bore of the barrel lightly lubricated with castor oil, which is what Medi-Dart supplies with its kits, and both last longer, particularly in cold weather. This is a reusable part with a service life rather than a consumable. Treatment and dosing decisions belong with your veterinarian and the label of the product being given.
