There is a distance at which cattle stop being approachable and gathering the whole bunch becomes the only alternative. The crossbow is Medi-Dart's answer to that gap. It launches the dart at an animal standing where she is, at around 9 m (30 ft), so a single sick animal can be treated without moving the herd. This listing is the launcher on its own. No darts, no air pump, no practice end and no castor oil. It suits an operation replacing a damaged crossbow while keeping darts and accessories that are still good, or one adding a second launcher so two people can work at once. Anyone starting from nothing wants a complete kit instead. The darts it takes hold up to 30 cc, and the valve arrangement means they will not deliver a charge below 10 cc. Once the barrel empties, the ejector loop is pushed ahead, the needle comes out of the animal and the dart falls to the ground for retrieval, which is what keeps the system reusable and free of any cost per shot. Crossbow spares are stocked individually here, from the string and bow through to the sight, hood, dart rest and spacer pack, so a launcher that has taken damage can usually be brought back rather than replaced.
