Hardware is the category nobody thinks about until a screw backs out in a truck box and the crossbow arrives at the pasture in more pieces than it left in. Vibration, cold and repeated assembly all work against small fasteners, and there is no useful way to substitute whatever is in the bottom of the toolbox on a piece of equipment where alignment decides where the dart goes. This is the hardware for the Medi-Dart crossbow, supplied as the correct fasteners and small fittings for that launcher. Buying the matched set is the point. Wrong-thread or wrong-length fasteners in a bow mount will either not hold or will bottom out and hold the parts apart, and both are hard to diagnose once everything is back together. It is a crossbow item. Neither the projectile bow-and-arrow system nor the extension pole syringe uses it, and Medi-Dart crossbow parts are close enough in appearance to one another that the manual diagram is worth having open when you order. Go around the fasteners with a screwdriver at the start of a season, and again after any hard knock. Anything that has been retightened repeatedly and still works loose should be replaced rather than persisted with. Once reassembled, check your point of impact on a target. What goes in the dart is a question for your veterinarian and the product label.
