Fifty-seven grams is the carry size, and that is the whole point of it. The salve that gets used is the one in your pocket when you find the problem, not the one on a shelf back in the tack room while you are half a mile out in a pasture. The formulation is the same moisturizing dressing Fiske's puts in the larger tub, made to help soothe irritated or sensitive skin. It carries like a salve rather than a lotion, so a thin working layer stays where you place it. Small size suits small jobs. A rubbed spot behind an elbow, a patch of dry skin under a mane, a dog that keeps worrying at one area. Clean the skin and let it dry, then work a thin layer in properly rather than smearing it over top. Reapply daily; one application and good intentions rarely accomplish much. And if you are looking at something deep, hot, swelling or going the wrong way over a few days, stop and phone your vet. A topical salve is a comfort measure, not a treatment plan.
