Buying for someone who keeps horses is hard, because they already own the tack. What actually gets used is the consumable stuff — the tin that lives in the grooming box and gets opened all winter. The line this box is drawn from is a veterinarian-designed formulation that has been sold for more than a century, and it is still made in Canada in a Health Canada GMP-approved facility, under Wecan Sales of Lincoln, Ontario. The range covers a hoof and skin conditioner sold with its own brush, a skin salve in a tin, an organic lip balm and a bar soap, all built on natural ingredients rather than petroleum. The conditioner is used to soften hoof wall and keep it flexible, and on skin to soothe and moisturise. The salve is a moisturising dressing for irritated or sensitive skin. These are the sort of things people keep rebuying once they have tried them, which is what makes a sampler worth giving. Contents of the box change from season to season.
