Wind is the thing that gets you. A day on a tractor, on horseback or building fence in an Alberta spring wind chaps a set of lips faster than cold on its own ever does, and once they split they stay split, because you keep opening them again every time you talk. Fiske's builds this one on beeswax with menthol and eucalyptus. The beeswax is what forms the barrier, sitting on the surface and slowing moisture loss rather than soaking in and vanishing. The menthol and eucalyptus give it the cooling, clearing note you notice on the first application. Keep one in a coverall pocket and another in the truck. The tube sitting in the house is no use to anyone at the far end of a quarter section. Apply before you head out rather than after the damage is done, and put more on after eating or drinking. If your lips are already cracked, expect to use it often for a few days. A barrier product only works while it is in place, and out in a Prairie wind it does not stay in place long.
