The little tin. Fiebing's original saddle soap in a size that fits a grooming box, a saddle bag or the door pocket of a truck, which is exactly where a cleaner needs to live if it is going to get used. It cleans smooth leather while lubricating the fibres, so leather stays supple instead of going brittle. Fiebing's notes that the yellow and white versions clean identically and do not transfer colour, so unlike the black tin this one is safe on light leather. Dampen a cloth or a brush, rub it across the soap to raise a lather, and work the leather in circles. Wipe the excess off with a clean damp cloth before it dries. When the leather is fully dry, buff with a soft cloth or brush. Watch the water. Saddle soap works off a damp cloth, not a wet one, and flooding leather then letting it dry hard is worse for it than the dirt ever was. Smooth leather only — not suede, not roughout. Follow with a conditioner or oil if the leather was dry to begin with.
