Fiebing's pure neatsfoot oil 236ml
Small 236ml bottle of 100% pure neatsfoot oil for replacing the oils that dry out of working leather, applied thin.
Details
One hundred percent natural neatsfoot oil, unblended. Fiebing's describes it as the preservative for leather articles subjected to rugged use and outdoor exposure, and saddle makers have been using it for generations to put back the oils that evaporate out of a hide over time. The 236ml bottle is the one-project size. A pair of boots, a bridle, a set of reins, a scabbard — enough to do the job properly without a half-full jug going stale on a shelf for five years. Clean the leather first and let it dry. Test somewhere hidden, because pure neatsfoot darkens leather and how much varies with the hide and the finish on it. Apply thin coats with a cloth, working in circles, and let each coat sit for hours before judging the result. Leather takes oil up slowly, especially in a cold shop, so what looks under-oiled at bedtime often looks right by morning. Restraint is the whole skill here. Oil is easy to add and impossible to take back out, and leather that has been over-oiled goes limp and stretchy for good.
