Neatsfoot oil compound is neatsfoot oil blended with other natural and synthetic oils. That blend is what separates it from the pure product and why it costs less per litre. Fiebing's says saddle makers and boot makers use it to soften, preserve and waterproof smooth leathers. The 3.78L jug is the working size — a saddle shop, a harness maker, or anyone who oils a pile of leather every spring. Decant into a smaller container to actually use it rather than hauling four litres around the bench. Clean the leather with saddle soap and let it dry completely before anything goes on. Test a hidden spot, because oil darkens leather and the degree depends on the hide. Apply thin coats with a soft cloth in circular motions, and give it several hours to overnight to penetrate before deciding it wants more. Wipe the excess off with a dry cloth. The most common mistake is generosity. Over-oiled leather goes soft and loses its structure, and a slack stirrup leather is a safety problem rather than a cosmetic one. Thin, repeated, patient. Keep the jug capped and out of the sun.
