The paste version. Where the liquid soaks straight in, the paste sits and works slowly, which suits boots and anything that takes weather head-on. Clean the leather with saddle soap and let it dry all the way through. Spot-test a hidden area. Apply small amounts with a soft cloth in circular motions, let it sit several hours or overnight to absorb, then wipe off the excess. Buff it if you want shine out of it. Do not park it near a heater to speed absorption. Cooking oil into leather is a reliable way to ruin it. Room temperature and patience do the job. If a boot still feels greasy the next day, that was too much — wipe it back and go lighter next time.
