A shine in a sponge. There is no tin to open, no brush and no buffing cloth — you wipe it on and you are done. Fiebing's says it covers scratches and scuff marks while it shines, and that it will not evaporate, collect dust or rub off on clothing. The black is for black boots and black dress shoes. Because it carries colour it will darken lighter leather, so keep this one for black and keep a separate sponge for anything else. Wipe the dust and grit off the boot before you start; dragging a sponge across dry dirt scratches the finish you are trying to tidy up. It is not for suede or nubuck. Those need a brush and a suede product, and a waxy shine will mat the nap down for good. Where this earns its keep is in the truck. Auction day, a meeting in town, a funeral — a boot that has been in a corral all week gets presentable in about thirty seconds with nothing else in the bag. Snap the lid shut afterwards so the sponge does not dry out.
