A soft paste for smooth leather that takes a beating outdoors — work boots, packer boots, chore gloves, saddle bags. It softens, conditions and helps the leather shed water, and Fiebing's markets it as helping against salt marks, which counts for something on anything that walks a sanded winter yard. Clean the leather first with saddle soap and let it dry all the way through. Spot-test somewhere hidden. Then apply a small amount with a cloth or sponge, working in circles for even coverage. Give it time — Fiebing's says a few hours to overnight depending on temperature and humidity, and in a cold shop it is closer to overnight than to a few hours. Wipe off whatever has not gone in, and buff if you want more shine out of it. The mistake people make is loading it on. Leather only takes up so much; the rest sits on top, stays tacky and picks up dust and chaff. If a boot still feels greasy the next morning, that was too much — wipe it back and leave it alone. Reapply through the season as the leather starts looking dry again.
