EquiPure Iron Max Solution 4L
Four litres of liquid iron and B-vitamin supplement for horses — useful when a vet has identified a need, not as a routine tonic.
Details
A liquid iron supplement with B vitamins, in a 4 L jug. Iron tonics have been fed to horses for generations on the theory that a dull, tired horse must be short of blood, and the format has stuck around: measure it over feed, no mixing, easy to run through a string. Here is the part most iron products do not tell you. True iron-deficiency anaemia is uncommon in adult horses — forage and water usually supply plenty, and a horse that looks anaemic is far more often dealing with parasites, ulcers, chronic infection, inflammation or blood loss than a shortage of dietary iron. Feeding iron does not fix any of those, and iron is not harmless: it accumulates in the liver because the body has no good way to excrete a surplus, and excess iron has been linked to liver problems and can interfere with copper and zinc absorption. So the sensible use is a targeted one. If your veterinarian has looked at bloodwork and told you this horse needs iron, this is a convenient way to give it at the rate they specify. If you are reaching for it because a horse seems flat, spend the money on a veterinary workup and a fecal egg count first — you will very likely find the real reason. Do not stack it with a fortified feed or mineral that already carries iron without checking the numbers. Store closed, out of the sun, above freezing, and shake before measuring.
