CORRAL wood post screw-in ring insulator (25/bag)
A screw-in ring insulator for wood posts with a wide wire support, holding the conductor captive on a permanent run.
Details
The ring insulator is the default for permanent wire fence because there is very little to it that can fail. No catch, no pin, no moving part. The conductor goes through a closed loop and stays there until someone takes it out. This version has a wide wire support, which spreads the bearing surface the conductor sits on. A narrow ring concentrates load and wind movement on one point, and on a long straight run that is where the conductor eventually wears through. Wider is what makes the difference over years rather than seasons. Twenty-five to the bag, screwing directly into a wood post. Corral makes a screw bit that fits these, and it is worth having if you are putting up more than a handful, because a bag of twenty-five by hand is hard work. The price of the closed ring is threading. Run the conductor through every insulator with the fence on the ground before you tension, and leave the ends long enough to reach a proper strain assembly. Retro-fitting a ring insulator into a tensioned fence means cutting the line.
