Details
A 12 volt fencer is only as reliable as the connection between it and the battery. This adaptor cable is the purpose-built lead for that job, 80 cm long, or just over two and a half feet, which is enough to reach from a fencer mounted on a post down into a battery box sitting on the ground below it. Most of the 12 volt failures we hear about at the counter are not the energizer at all. They are a corroded, undersized or wrong-gauge lead that somebody scavenged out of a shop drawer. Voltage drops, the fence reads low, and a week goes by before anyone tests it. A cable made for the fencer takes that variable out of the system. Keep the battery in a covered box up off the ground, especially through a wet spring or a freeze-thaw stretch, and dress the cable so it is not lying in standing water or somewhere a hoof will find it. If you run temporary fence out on summer pasture, carry a spare in the truck.
