CORRAL Basic fencing rope 6mm x 200m (White)
White 6 mm electric fence rope on a 200 m roll, the round conductor option for lines where wide tape catches too much wind.
Details
Rope is what you reach for when tape gives you trouble. A 40 mm tape has a lot of surface area, and on an exposed quarter with nothing to break the wind it flogs, works the insulators loose and eventually splits along the edge. A 6 mm round rope, just under a quarter inch, sheds wind instead of catching it. This is the Basic line, 200 m on the roll or about 656 feet, in white so it stays visible to horses and to anyone backing a trailer through a gap. Rope also handles better than tape does: it feeds off a reel without twisting flat, and it does not fray along the edges when a branch comes down on the line. Run it on rope insulators rather than tape insulators, since the groove shape is different and a tape insulator will chafe a round conductor. Put an in-line tensioner in every long stretch. Between frost lifting posts and cattle leaning, a line that was tight in June will be sagging by August, and a tensioner lets you take it up in a minute instead of restringing.
