Details
Tape and rope both move with temperature, and a fence tensioned in the cold is slack in the heat. The usual answer is a separate strainer somewhere in the run, which means finding it, finding the tool, and pulling the whole line back to it. This insulator has the tensioner built into it. A ratchet mechanism takes up slack by hand, no tool required, and releases the same way so the line can be dropped or the tape removed without cutting. It takes fence tape up to 40 mm and rope up to 8 mm. Ten to the bag, which is enough to put a tension point in each strand of several paddocks. It fits into an existing fence as readily as new build, mounting like any other wood post insulator, so a run that has gone slack can be retro-fitted at the nearest post rather than re-strained from the end. Wind up in small increments and walk the line as you go. Tape especially will look tight at the fitting and still be slack fifty metres away, and over-tensioning at one point is what pulls insulators out of posts on the rest of the run.
