A heavy-duty pinlock insulator for wood posts taking rope up to 8 mm, locking the conductor in from the side rather than threading it.

Eight millimetre rope will not thread through anything quickly. On a long horse fence with three or four strands, threading is the difference between finishing on Saturday and finishing next weekend. The pinlock takes rope in from the side and closes a pin behind it, so the line can be run out along the ground, lifted into the insulators, and tensioned afterwards. It handles rope up to 8 mm, the heavy end of what horse fence is run in, and the body is built in a heavy section because rope that size stores real energy when it is under tension. Twenty-five to the bag. Mount them on the stock side of the post so the rope is what an animal meets. Rope run behind a post line gets pushed against the wood, and once the outer braid opens on a post edge it does not close again. Pull the pin and the rope drops out, which is what you want when a strand has to come down to move stock or a machine through, and what you do not want when it happens on its own. Check the pins are seated after the fence has been up a week and settled.
