Tape works loose in wind, and not the run itself so much as the fittings. A clip with one catch gets flexed a few thousand times a day by a fluttering tape, and eventually one of them is open and the strand is down before anyone walks the fence. The maxi clip closes on two locking points, so the tape has to defeat both to escape. It is sized for 40 mm tape, the width most permanent horse and cattle line is run in, and it screws directly into a wood post. Twenty-five to the bag. Because it screws in rather than nails on, it goes into old posts where a nail no longer grips, and it can be backed out and re-sited if a layout changes without leaving a nail hole to rot around. Set the tape into the clip with the width flat and check the clip has fully closed before you move on. The two catches give an audible seat. If you are not hearing it, the tape is not in properly, and that is the fitting the wind will find.
