Details
Horse fence gets tested differently than cattle fence. Horses lean, rub and occasionally go through, and the fitting that fails is usually the one that had a thin section somewhere in the moulding. This insulator is moulded in break-proof plastic in a heavier section than the general-purpose fittings, intended for the premium rope and cord lines used on horse fence. It goes onto a wood post either by screwing or by nailing, so it suits new construction and retrofitting an old post line equally. Ten to the bag. Mount them so the rope sits proud of the post face and the animal meets the conductor before it meets the post. Rope set flush gets rubbed against wood until the outer braid opens. The mounting choice matters more than it looks. Nails hold well in sound green posts and pull out of dry old ones; a screw into weathered wood grips where a nail no longer will. Pick per post rather than per fence.
