Details
The slow part of putting up a tape fence is threading. Every closed insulator means feeding the whole roll through, and on a long run with several strands that is most of the day. This clip opens at the side and closes on two locking points, so the tape drops in and stays in. Two points rather than one is what keeps it shut when a fence is being lifted and worked; single-catch clips have a way of springing open on the post you cannot reach. It takes tape up to 40 mm or polywire up to 6 mm. The screw-on plate is reinforced where the shank meets the body, which is where these break when a post gets clipped by machinery or a horse leans through the fence. Twenty-five to the bag. Run the line out on the ground, clip it in along the fence, then tension. Working that way, one person can put up several hundred metres of multi-strand tape in a morning, which is not true of ring insulators.
