A closed ring cannot let go. On a permanent line in country that blows, that matters more than the few minutes it costs to thread the conductor through when the fence goes up. The ring takes wire, polywire, rope or tape up to 10 mm and holds it captive against wind lift and against stock working underneath it. The improved clip seats onto a standard T-post by hand. Bags of twenty-five. Thread the whole run before you tension it. Feed the conductor through every ring on the ground, walk it out, then lift and tension. Trying to thread a line that is already up is how a morning disappears. Ring insulators suit straight runs. Where the fence turns, or where you want to be able to drop a wire quickly to move stock, use a corner fitting or a pinlock instead and keep the rings for the long side.
