CORRAL rod post Vario classic ring insulator (10/bag)
Ring insulator for rod posts, ten to a bag, holding wire or polywire clear of the steel on a line post.
Details
A ring insulator is the simplest thing on a fence and the most commonly got wrong. Its job is to hold the conductor away from the post so the pulse stays in the wire instead of leaking to ground through steel and wet soil. Get it wrong and the whole fence reads low with no visible fault anywhere on the line. These fit rod posts and take wire or polywire through the ring. Because the conductor passes through rather than being clamped, the line can slide as it expands and contracts, which is exactly what you want on a long run. A wire fence does not stay tight. A swing from minus thirty to plus thirty moves a line a long way, and a ring lets it move instead of tearing at the fitting. Ten to a bag covers a stretch of line posts or replaces the ones that have gone brittle. Set them at consistent height so the wire runs level, keep them clear of grass and drifted snow, and check them in spring where frost heave has lifted posts out of line.
