Details
This is the cable that gets the pulse from the energizer to the fence, or under a gateway, without leaking it into the ground on the way. Ordinary wire will not do the job. Fence pulses run at thousands of volts, and standard insulation breaks down and arcs to soil, which shows up as a fence that tests weak for no visible reason. The common uses are the lead-out from the energizer to the first fence post, a crossing under a gateway or lane so vehicles and stock never touch a live wire, and a jump from one fenced block to another. Fifty metres, roughly 164 ft, covers a long lead-out or several gateway crossings. Bury it deep enough that it will not be hooked by a harrow or a post pounder, and run it in conduit where equipment crosses regularly. Frost heave will work a shallow cable up over a few winters. Where it comes out of the ground and joins the fence, use a proper connector and keep the joint clear of steel and standing water.
