Do snap traps work on mice?

The short answer

Yes. Snap traps are the option the sources back most consistently. Health Canada calls them effective when well placed and set, MyHealth Alberta says they work well, and British Columbia calls them the best treatment option. Placement matters more than anything: set them along walls and in dark corners where you see droppings, and use plenty of them. Pipestone Farm Supply carries wood and non-wood styles.

We can get this moving for you quickly, and depending on where you are, your parcel can arrive in as little as 1 to 2 business days once it's on the road. Pickup in Millet, Alberta is free, and shipping is free on orders over $199.99 to most addresses.

Do multi-catch mouse traps work?

Yes, they work well for mice, especially in barns, shops and other spots with steady activity. Purdue reports a dozen or more mice in an evening, and the Government of Alberta lists them next to snap traps as a recommended type. Mice are usually alive inside, so traps need emptying often. Set them along runways and beside doors.

Do I need more than one mouse trap?

Usually, yes. Every good source says to use more traps than you think. Health Canada suggests about one per metre along walls, the Government of Alberta about 1.8 metres apart. Mice stay close to home, so a trap in the wrong spot can sit untouched. Wood traps keep the cost down when you need a lot of them.

Do wood mouse traps work better than plastic?

No good evidence says either material catches more mice. The University of California sums up the real difference: wood is the cheapest, while plastic is easier to set and clean. Wood makes sense if you want a lot of traps for less, and plastic if you plan to reuse them.

Do live-catch mouse traps work?

Yes, they catch mice alive so you can release them. Check them often, release them well away from your home, and rodent-proof first, because the University of California reports that mice moved up to about 800 metres can find their way back. Pipestone Farm Supply also carries snap traps if you have more than a mouse or two.
