The multi-catch tin trap is a piece of equipment rather than a consumable. A mouse walks in through a one-way entry, a wind-up mechanism flips it into the holding chamber, and the trap re-arms itself for the next one — so a single unit can take a dozen mice between visits without you touching anything. For food-handling areas, feed rooms, granaries, commercial kitchens and any building where poison is unwelcome or prohibited, this is the standard tool. Pest control operators use them because they are poison-free, they work continuously, and they give you a count of what you are actually catching, which tells you whether pressure is rising or falling. Set it flush against a wall with the entry holes at the wall, along a known runway. Mice will not detour to find it, so the placement has to be where they already travel. Wind the mechanism and check it on a schedule. The one thing to understand is that the mice are alive in the chamber. That means you must check it at least daily — leaving mice in a trap for days to die of thirst is inexcusable, and it also means a trap full of dead mice smells and stops catching. If you are not going to check it regularly, buy snap traps instead. Also expect to clean it. Mice foul the chamber, and a dirty trap catches less. Wash it out periodically and let it dry. It costs more up front than a handful of traps and outlasts all of them by years.
