Tuff Stuff super rake w/ aluminum handle - red
A red barn rake with an aluminium handle, for lifting droppings and soiled bedding without shovelling out the clean shavings too.
Details
A shovel takes everything. That is fine for a concrete alley and expensive in a bedded stall, because every load of soiled material you lift also carries away clean shavings you paid for. A raking head with spaced tines does the sorting for you: droppings and wet material come up, dry bedding falls back through. The manufacturer lists it at 43 by 20 by 168 cm (17 by 8 by 66 inches). The aluminium handle keeps the whole tool light, which matters because picking a stall is a sequence of small lifts rather than a few big ones, and a heavy tool costs you on every single one. Red is a sensible colour to give the manure end of the job if you run a second rake for clean bedding or hay. The rule only works if nobody has to think about it, and colour is the version of the rule that survives a rushed morning. Knock the head out against the inside of the muck bucket rather than picking material off the tines with a glove. Then stand it up to dry. Anything left to set between the tines will be there next week and harder.
