A steel-handled rake weighs more than the material it moves. Over a morning of stalls that adds up, and it is why so many barn rakes end up leaning in the corner while somebody uses a fork instead. An aluminum handle takes most of the weight out without giving up stiffness. The head is about 43 cm wide and the whole tool measures roughly 168 cm from the tines to the top of the handle (17 by 8 by 66 inches). The head is moulded plastic, so it will not gouge a rubber mat, will not rust, and does not ring on concrete at five in the morning. Aqua does not disappear against straw or shavings, which is worth something in a tool that spends half its life set down on the bedding. Hang it by the handle rather than standing it on the tines; a plastic head left bearing weight on the tips will splay over a season or two.
