Details
Feeding over a fence with an ordinary pail means either climbing in or reaching over and hoping. A bucket built with brackets on the back sits on the rail at the animal's height, on the safe side of the fence, and comes off when you are done. Capacity is 13 L (14 US quarts). The moulded brackets drop over any 2x board, the rim has a pour lip with a hand-hold for tipping feed in or out, and there are two carrying handles for moving it full. Every edge is finished smooth, which matters on something an animal is going to put its head into every day. Square is the choice when you want capacity in a narrow footprint along a rail. It hangs flatter against a board than a round pan and it does not swing as much when a horse pushes at it. Black holds up longest in sunlight and shows the least staining. It is also the least visible, so if you take pans off after every feed, mark where they live or they will end up hanging on a fence three paddocks away.
