Depth is the wrong dimension for a group feeder. A deep tub means the animals at the front bury their heads in it and the ones behind get nothing, and anything short cannot reach the bottom at all. This one goes the other way: roughly 65 cm across (25.5 inches) and only about 21 cm deep (8.25 inches), so it is nearly all rim. It holds 15 gallons, near enough 57 litres, in heavy rubber. Loaded with feed or water it is very hard to tip, and the low centre of gravity is doing that work rather than any clip or anchor. Empty, it is light enough for one person to walk across a yard. The shallow profile suits a lot of jobs beyond feeding a group. Soaking hay, mixing a batch by hand, holding a mineral block, washing tack or a bit of equipment, catching what comes out when you drain something. It is a shape that gets used. Rubber takes the freeze and thaw cycle without cracking, and ice lifts out of a wide shallow tub more easily than it does out of anything narrow. Stand it on edge against a wall when it is not in use so it does not fill with rain.
