The handles are the difference. A plain rubber pan full of soaked feed has no good place to grip it, and you end up with both arms around the outside, walking bow-legged and wearing some of it. Moulded handles on the sides let you pick it up properly, two-handed, and set it down where you meant to. It holds three gallons, about 11 litres, in the same heavy rubber body as the plain version. The handles are part of the moulding rather than fitted hardware, which means nothing to unscrew, nothing to rust and nothing that pulls out under load. That matters at this capacity, since 11 litres of water is over ten kilograms before you count the pan. Rubber holds its shape in the cold and lets ice knock out cleanly, and it takes a boot, a hoof or a tractor tire without cracking the way rigid plastic does. If you are mixing feed rather than just serving it, the handles earn their keep a second time. You can hold the pan steady with one hand while you stir with the other, instead of chasing it around the floor of the feed room.
