Tuff Stuff rubber round feeder 3 gallon
A three-gallon rubber round feeder, heavy enough to stay where it is put and flexible enough to knock ice out of.
Details
Winter sorts out feed pans quickly. A rigid plastic pan with an inch of ice in it either splits when you try to free it or gets abandoned by the barn door until spring. Rubber does neither. Turn it over, put a boot on the back of it, and the ice drops out in one disc leaving the pan the shape it was. This one holds three gallons, roughly 11 litres, in a heavy rubber body with the weight low in the base. Loaded, it takes real effort to shift, which is the point with any animal that likes to push its dinner around the pen. It is resistant to heat, cold, UV and impact, and there are no seams or fasteners in it to fail. Three gallons is a general-purpose size. Grain for a horse, a full feed for a couple of goats, soaked pulp, water in a pen where a bucket keeps getting tipped, or a mixing bowl when you are making up rations. Hose it out and stand it on edge to drain. Left flat and full of rainwater it becomes a very heavy thing to move, and rubber holds water in the base longer than you would expect.
