Tuff Stuff rubber flat back bucket 18 qts
An 18-quart rubber bucket with a flat back that sits tight against a wall or panel, hung on a heavy galvanised bail.
Details
A round bucket hung on a wall stands out into the space and swings. Anything walking past catches it, and over time the hook works loose or the bucket comes off entirely. The flat back on this one solves that by putting the whole rear face against the wall or panel, so it sits still and takes up less of the stall. Capacity is 18 quarts, about 17 litres, in a body roughly 38 cm wide and 31 cm high. The material is heavy rubber rather than rigid plastic, and it is UV, heat, cold and impact resistant. The bail is heavy gauge galvanised wire, which is the right choice at this weight; a moulded plastic handle at 17 litres of water is asking a lot. Rubber earns its place in the cold. When water freezes in a rigid bucket it splits it; a rubber bucket lets you turn it over and hit it, and the ice comes out in one piece with the bucket intact. That single property is why they outlast plastic in a Prairie winter. Hang it at chest height for the animal using it, and check the hook rather than the bucket. It is almost always the mounting that fails first.
