Feeding on the ground in a wet spring means half the ration goes into the mud and the other half gets stepped on. Hanging a pan on the fence is the obvious fix, and the obvious problem is that most buckets need a snap, a clip or a length of twine that eventually breaks. This one has the hook moulded into the back of the pan itself. It drops over a rail or a 2x board and stays there under the weight of the feed, with nothing to rust, unclip or come undone. Capacity is 9.5 L (10 US quarts), which is a good single feeding for a horse or a small group of goats or sheep. Round is the shape to pick when you want the pan cleaned out. There is no square corner for the last handful to hide in, and an animal working the bottom of a round pan gets everything. Red is easy to see from a distance, so an unfinished feed is visible from the gate rather than something you discover the next morning. Lift the pan off after feeding rather than leaving it on the fence to fill with rain.
