Feeding over a fence is how you avoid walking into the pen for every meal, and across several pens it is the difference between a two-minute job and a ten-minute one. A hook-over feeder does that without hardware. It lifts on, it lifts off, and there is nothing bolted to the fence to work loose over a season. It holds 9.5 L (10 quarts) and measures roughly 33 cm wide by 28 cm high with a depth around 25 cm (13.1 by 11.2 by 10 inches). The rear hook supports the feeder against the rail so the load pulls down onto the fence rather than out from it, which is what keeps a loaded feeder from tipping off. Green is the colour most people default to for feed and it earns the position. It does not glare in sunlight and it does not show the residue of sweet feed the way a pale colour does. Hang it, feed, and take it off again once the pen is done. Feeders left hanging between meals fill with rain and snow. Lifting it down takes five seconds and is most of the difference between a feeder that lasts and one you replace every couple of years.
