A dark bucket hides a dirty bucket. Feed residue, a film at the water line, the sludge that builds in the bottom over a week: you simply do not see any of it in black plastic, and you notice it immediately in a pale one. That is the practical case for keeping a light-coloured bucket for water. The dimensions are the standard eight-quart round: about 28 cm across and 20 cm deep (11 by 8 inches), holding roughly 7.6 L, moulded in one piece from 100% recycled low-density polyethylene with the handle formed into the rim. It scrubs out with a brush and warm water in well under a minute, and that is really the whole argument. The buckets that get cleaned are the ones that are quick to clean and obvious when they are not. Turn it upside down between uses so it drains and does not sit collecting dust or rain.
