Buckets this size get bought in numbers rather than one at a time, and the reason is nesting. A stack of eight-quart rounds takes up almost no room in the corner of a tack room, comes apart easily, and means you can set out five feeds at once and collect the buckets afterwards instead of washing between animals. Each one holds about 7.6 L, 8 quarts or 2 gallons, in a body roughly 28 cm across and 20 cm deep (11 by 8 inches). It is moulded in one piece from recycled low-density polyethylene with the handle formed into the rim, so there is no hardware anywhere on it. The lime-green shade is bright enough to spot in a dim barn and distinct enough to use as a marker in a colour system. Whatever you assign it to, hold the assignment. The whole benefit of coloured buckets disappears the first time somebody waters a horse out of the supplement bucket.
