Tuff Stuff poultry open nest drinker plastic handle - 3.7gal
A 14 litre open nest poultry drinker with a plastic handle, holding enough that a working flock is not watered twice a day.
Details
Count the trips. A drinker that needs filling morning and evening is fourteen walks to the coop a week; one that carries a flock through the day is seven. Over a summer that adds up, and more to the point it means water gets changed properly on the days you are busy rather than skipped. This is the 3.7 gallon unit, about 14 litres. That is a real weight when it is full, which is why the moulded plastic handle is worth noting: the load spreads across your hand instead of biting into it on a wire bail, and there is nothing to rust where the handle meets the body. At this capacity most people fill it in place rather than carrying it out full. Bring the hose or a pail to the drinker, and use the handle for moving it empty and for tipping it out. The open nest design means you can see the water level and the bottom of the trough without dismantling anything. Raise it on a block or a low stand. At 14 litres you will not be emptying it as often, so keeping bedding out of it in the first place matters more than it does with a small fount.
